Whether in reference to if my curl is defined as tight, nappy, tough to comb, better pressed, or just not what this world approves of, I should hate I am a black girl with natural hair that is not afraid to think, ask questions, and voice my opinion about this world while conquering my dreams. I’ve been transformed in a world that showed me I should hate that.

This world wants me to hate to think.

Whether in reference to being labeled as inferior to men, ignorant, unintelligent, or over opinionated, I should hate that I am a black girl with natural hair that is not afraid to think, ask questions, and voice my opinion about this world while conquering my dreams. I’ve been undermined by a world that tried to make me believe and hate that.

This world wants me to hate to ask questions.

Whether in reference to politics, business, religion or equality, I should hate that I am a black girl with natural hair that is not afraid to think, ask questions, and voice my opinion about this world while conquering my dreams. I’ve been asked by this world to sit quietly and hate that.

Whether in reference to my hair, my question, my dreams, or my position in this world as a black girl with natural hair that is not afraid to think, ask questions, and voice my opinion about this world while conquering my dreams. This world has made it my only choice but to hate this.

This world wants me to hate me.

Whether in reference to every single piece of who I am and where I come from. My skin. My hair. My voice. My mind. My dreams I can’t seem to stop conquering.
I am a black girl with natural hair that is not afraid to think, ask questions, and voice my opinion about this world while conquering my dream and I love everything about me this world wants me to hate.

  1. One thing I am certain of is people what us to ashamed of our voice and to sit quietly. But we should never do that. Great piece you have written.
